What’s more important? Exercise or Nutrition? Do I just have to exercise a lot? Or do I just watch calories? The frustration that came over me because of lack of knowledge was so overwhelming at times that I would just put the whole thought aside and not come up with a plan.
Now that I’ve been in the Health & Wellness industry for over a decade, it’s so apparent to me. So, what is it? The answer is …...BOTH! Because of my passion for exercise & nutrition and now having the knowledge that I have, I recently became a Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC). My goals are to help you achieve a lifestyle of health….Did you hear that? It’s A LIFESTYLE. I want you to have a sustainable way of eating and exercising that’s easy to achieve. Let’s put the yo-yo dieting and exercise away for good!
I know! That already sounds overwhelming to some of you, but I promise it’s not. Let’s eat what we enjoy and exercise in a way our bodies like. Maybe that means finding the type of workout that doesn’t affect your body negatively. Maybe that’s understanding what we are putting into our bodies and realizing there are so many food options. Food and exercise offer so many options….it’s ALL about making the choices that are right for us.
I think what ends up being one of the most overwhelming thoughts about this is that we tend to think of it as deprivation. “ Why should I deprive myself?” Well, you shouldn’t. Fueling your body with quality foods doesn’t mean deprivation. I’m sure some of you are rolling your eyes at me, but it wasn’t that long ago that I had the same thoughts and reactions when someone would say I’m not depriving myself. The reality is I eat all day long, literally. The difference is that I’m eating quality foods as opposed to just eating anything.
What is the #1 priority when eating to fuel our bodies and making it into a lifestyle? Go ahead….what is it?
How many of you said calories? How many of you said low or no fat? How many of you said low or no carb? How many of you said low or no sugar? Well, here is the thing…I don’t obsess about calories, in fact, I don’t even look at them anymore. Same with Fats, same with Carbs, same with sugar. Why? Because my #1 is making sure I get the amount of protein I need by eating quality proteins and quality snacks. If you know you are doing that, then everything else falls into place. I will get into it in another blog, but I do want you to understand something or at least start telling yourselves….”Carbs are good for us. Healthy fats are good for us. Low sugar is acceptable.”
I will be launching my Nutrition Program soon and I am very excited because I want to teach you everything I have learned about fueling our bodies and realizing we can eat all day long, not obsess about food, but actually look forward to how we can fuel it. So, be on the lookout for my program.
You owe it to yourself to take care of YOU through good, quality eating...and of course, exercise.
